ch - chain

ch-sp - chain space

sc - single crochet

SSsc - standing stitch single crochet**

BPhdc - back post half double crochet

dc - double crochet

tr - treble crochet

sk - skip stitch

slst - slip stitch

rnd - round

st/s - stitch / stitches

Make 15 pieces of the No 5 flower for “Keep on Blooming!" – Flower blanket CAL.

You can crochet this block using almost any kind of yarn, but I recommend yarns with a hook recommendation of 3.0 - 4.5 mm.

Cut yarn and secure ends when changing yarn color.

Make a Magic Ring and crochet Rnd 1 sts into it.

Rnd 1

Yellow 

Ch 1 (does not count as sc), 12 sc into the ring, join to the 1^st ch with slst, tighten the ring by pulling the starting tail of the yarn. Do not cut yarn.

Rnd 2

Yellow 

Ch 1 (does not count as sc), sc, (ch 4, 2sc) 5 times, ch 4, sc. Join to the 1^st sc with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.  

[12 sc, 6 x ch4-sp]

Rnd 3

Off White 

*[SSsc (counts as sc in repeats) into any ch4-sp, hdc, dc, tr, ch 1, tr, dc, hdc, sc] into same ch4-sp with 1^st st. Sk 2 sc.* 5 times. 

Join to the 1^st sc with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.  

[(2 sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2 tr, ch1-sp) 6 times]

Rnd 4

Off White 

Make the ch3-sps on the back of your work. Petals lie in front of your work.

The sts to be skipped are not mentioned. 

SSsc between 2sc, ch3. 

*Sc into ch4-sp rnd 2 between tr sts, ch 3, sc between 2 scs, ch 3.* 5 times. Sc into ch4-sp rnd 2 between tr sts, ch 3. Join to the 1^st sc with slst. 

[12 sc, 12 x ch3-sp]

Rnd 5

Light Brown 

SSdc into 1^st of 2 ch3-sps of previous rnd (behind petal), 2 dc into same ch3-sp as 1^st st, sk sc.

* 3 dc into ch3-sp, ch 1, sk sc, 3 dc into ch3-sp, sk sc.* 5 times. 3 dc into ch3-sp, ch 1, sk sc. Join to the 1^st dc with slst. Do not cut yarn.  

[36 dc, 6 x ch1-sp]

Rnd 6

Light Brown 

Ch 1 (does not count as sc), sc,  sc in next 2 sts.

* Sc into ch1-sp Rnd 3 (tip of the flower’s petal), sc into next 3 sts, 2 sc into ch1-sp, sc into next 3 sts.* 5 times, 2 sc into ch1-sp rnd 3. Join to the 1^st sc with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.

Rnd 7

Beige 

SSdc into 1^st st of previous rnd, ch 1.

*Sk sc, (dc, ch 1, sk sc) 2 times, (dc, ch 1) 4 times (middle 2 dcs lie in scs that are made into ch1-sp. This is the new corner).* 6 times. Omit last dc + ch 1. Join to the 1^st dc with slst. Do not cut yarn.  

[36 dc, 36 x ch1-sp]

Rnd 8

Beige 

Slst into next ch1-sp.

Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc into same ch1-sp, (sk dc, 2 dc into ch1-sp) 3 times, sk dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) into corner ch1-sp. *(sk dc, 2 dc into ch1-sp) 5 times, sk dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) into corner ch1-sp* 5 times, sk dc, 2 dc into ch1-sp. Join to the 3^rd ch with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.

[(12 dc, ch2-sp) 6 times]

Rnd 9

Beige

 SSBPhdc around 1^st st made in previous round, BPhdc around every st, (dc, ch 2, dc) into corner ch2-sps. Join to the 2^nd ch with slst. Do not cut yarn.  

[(12 BPhdc, 2 dc, ch2-sp) 6 times]

Rnd 10

Beige 

Slst into next st. Ch 4 (count as dc + ch 1), sk st, dc, (ch 1, sk st, dc) 3 times, ch 1,

*(dc, ch 2, dc) into ch2-sp, (ch 1, sk st, dc) 7 times, ch 1* 5 times, (dc, ch 2, dc) into ch2-sp, (ch 1, sk st, dc) 2 times, ch 1, sk st. Join to the 3^rd ch with slst. Do not cut yarn.  

[(9 dc, 8 x ch1-sp, ch2-sp) 6 times]

Rnd 11

Beige 

Slst into next ch1-sp. Ch 1 (does not count as sc), 2sc into same ch1-sp as 1^st st. Work 2 sc into every ch1-sp, work (sc, ch 1, sc) into corner ch2-sps. Join to the 1^st sc with slst. Do not cut yarn.  

[(18 sc, ch1-sp) 6 times]

Rnd 12

Beige 

Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), (sk sc, dc, ch 1) 5 times, (dc, ch 2, dc) into corner ch1-sp.

*Ch 1, sk sc (1^st st is a bit hidden), (dc, ch 1, sk sc) 8 times, dc, ch 1, (dc, ch 2, dc) into corner ch1-sp.* 5 times. Ch 1, sk sc (1^st st is a bit hidden), (dc, ch 1, sk sc) 3 times. Join to the 3^rd ch with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends. 

[(11 dc, 10 x ch1-sp, ch2-sp) 6 times]
