Stitches used in this pattern (US terms): 

ch - chain

ch-sp - chain space

sc -  single crochet

SSsc - standing stitch single crochet**

FPsc -  front post single crochet

BPsc - back post single crochet

hdc - half double crochet

SShdc - standing stitch half double crochet**

SSdc -  standing stitch double crochet**

BPhdc - back post half double crochet

dc -  double crochet

tr - triple crochet (2 yarn overs on hook)

sk - skip stitch

slst - slip stitch

rnd - round

st/sts - stitch / stitches

Make 6 pieces of the No 3 flower for “Keep on Blooming!" – Flower blanket CAL.


You can crochet this block using almost any kind of yarn, but I recommend yarns with a hook recommendation of 3.0 - 4.5 mm.

 

Cut yarn and secure ends when changing yarn color.

Make a Magic Ring and crochet Rnd 1 sts into it.


Rnd 1

Mustard 

Ch 1 (does not count as sc), 12 sc. Join to the 1st sc with slst, tighten the ring by pulling the starting tail of the yarn. Do not cut yarn.

Rnd 2

Mustard 

Ch 3, (counts as dc), dc into starting point of ch3 just worked, ch 1, 2 dc into next st, (ch 3, 2 dc into next st, ch 1, 2 dc into next st) 5 times, ch 3. Join to the 3rd ch with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.  

[24 dc, 6 x ch1-sp, 6 x ch3-sp]

Rnd 3

Off White 

SSdc into next ch1-sp, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into same ch1-sp. [Ch 1, sk (2 dc, ch3-sp, 2 dc), (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into ch1-sp] 5 times, ch 1. Join to the 1st dc with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.  

[36 dc, 6 x ch1-sp, 6 x ch2-sp]

Rnd 4

Brick Red  

This rnd of sts are crocheted as surface crochet around the posts of the rnd 2 dcs, dcs that are worked on both sides of ch1-sps. 

Hold your work with the middle to the right side, making it easier to crochet up the dc post. Starting point, check the red arrow in the photo.  

SSsc around first dc after ch1-sp of rnd 2, 2 sc around the same dc post as 1st sc (crocheting up the post of dc) 

*Ch 2, sk (dc, ch 3, dc). Turn your work so the middle will be to the left side, 3 sc around the next dc, crocheting down the dc post. Turn your work so the middle will be on the right side, 3 sc around the next dc.* 5 times.  

Ch 2, sk (dc, ch 3, dc). Turn your work so the middle will be on the left side, 3 sc around the next dc, crocheting down the dc post. Join to the 1st sc with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.  

[(6sc, ch2-sp) 6 times]

Rnd 5

Light Brown 

Scs of this rnd are made in back of your work, so that leaves lies in front of the work. The sts to be skipped are not mentioned. 

Note: turn your work wrong side facing

*SSsc (counts as sc in next repeats) into ch1-sp rnd 2 between 3 dc + 3 dc made in Rnd 3. See red arrow in photo. 

Ch 3, pull ch3-sp of rnd 2 from behind to front through/under ch2-sp of rnd 4. 

3 dc around ch3-sp rnd 2 and ch1-sp rnd 3. (working into/over the ch-sp of Rnds 2 and 3). See photo. Ch 3* 6 times. Join to the 1st sc with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.

Rnd 6

Orange

Note: turn work front side facing

SSsc into last dc of any 3dc-group of previous rnd,

* Ch 3, sk (ch3-sp, sc, ch3-sp), 2 sc into next 3 dcs.* 6 times. Omit last sc. Join to the 1st sc with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.

Rnd 7

Yellow 

SSsc into any ch3-sp,

*sk sc, 3 dc into next st, ch 2) 2 times, sk sc, 3 dc into next st, sc into ch3-sp.* 6 times. Omit last sc. Join to the 1st sc with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.  

[(sc, 9 dc, 2 x ch2-sp) 6 times]


Rnd 8

Light Brown 

SSsc into 1st ch2-sp of any 3 x 3dc group,

* 3 sc, sc into ch2-sp, sk 3 dc, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into sc, sk 3 dc, sc into ch2-sp.* 6 times. Omit last sc. Join to the 1st sc with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.  

[(5 sc, 6 dc, ch2-sp) 6 times]

Rnd 9

Off White 

SShdc into corner ch2-sp,

* 3 BPhdc, 2 hdc, 2 hdc into next st, 2 hdc, 3 BPhdc, (hdc, ch 2, hdc) into corner ch2-sp.* 6 times.

Omit last hdc. Join to the 1st hdc with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.  

[(6 BPhdc, 6 hdc, ch2-sp) 6 times]

Rnd 10

Orange 

(SSdc, ch 2, dc) into corner ch2-sp.

*(ch 1, sk st, dc)7 times, ch 1, (dc, ch 2, dc) into ch2-sp.* 6 times. Omit last corner (dc, ch 2, dc). Join to the 1st dc with slst. Cut yarn and secure ends.  

[(9 dc, 8 x ch, ch2-sp) 6 times]

Rnd 11

Beige

Note: work tr in front of ch1-sp of previous rnd. 

(SSsc, ch 1, sc) into corner ch2-sp,

*(FPsc around next st, tr into next free st of Rnd 9) 7 times, FPsc around next st, tr into ch2-sp of rnd 9 before 1st dc made into corner, FPsc around next st, (sc, ch 1, sc) into corner ch2-sp* 6 times. Omit last (sc, ch 1, sc). Join to the 1st sc with slst. Do not cut the yarn.  

[(2 sc, ch1-sp, 8 tr, 9 FPsc) 6 times]

Rnd 12

Beige 

Slst into corner ch1-sp. Ch 5 (counts as dc + ch2-sp), dc into same ch1-sp,

*ch 1, sk sc (1st sc is a bit hidden), (dc in next st, ch 1, sk 1 st) 9 times. (Dc, ch 2, dc) into corner ch1-sp* 5 times. Ch 1, sk sc, (dc, ch 1, sk st) 9 times, ch 1, sk 1 st. Join to the 3rd ch with slst. 

Cut yarn and secure ends. 

[(11 dc, 10 x ch1-sp, ch2-sp) 6 times] 

Fasten off and secure ends, if you choose to block the hexagon, wet and let dry.

It is time to relax. Swirl around your arms, shoulders and wrists. Relax your muscles and enjoy a moment of accomplishment.
